How I Lost You

As you walked through my door,
I walked out.
In between your words I lost my sound.
As you caressed my hair and held my hand,
I saw myself shrinking behind thorns of doubts.
Walking with you, I'd been holding your shadow.
And as the night fell upon me, losing you came as thunder loud.
It came so sudden, yet so easy
Gone with the moment that I took another breath.
But as quick as a glimpse that the mist disappeared
You still lingered within my own smell.
You left your mark on the pages of my books,
And stayed close behind the curtains of my room.
And every night I bid you goodnight,
Only to sleep with the ghosts of my knight.
